  For many years I worked for unfi/alberts, and I must say it was hard to stomach the behavior of the management. Publicly they speak about sustainability, responsability, footprint. But internally they behave differently. Ive witnessed hazardous chemicals used for the batteries they used to have discarded into a local washbay in the facility. One time weeks before a internal Steritech audit the ops manager Mike Garstka had shift manager Jon Paul Litter put trays of antifreeze on product at the highest reserve(shelf area) in the last aisle. In hopes that two birds that had gotten in the facility would drink the fluid, and die so we would not get points deducted from the audit. The antifreeze got on the product slightly, and instead of disposing it they reboxed the outer cartons. Product on the docks that were frozen or refrigerated many times sat so long they were above safe standards. And product returned in off condition due to temperatures (trailers malfunctioned at times) was put back to stock for later shipments, instead of disposing it and taking a loss. All the youtube videos and press about how caring and good they are is just for attracting more bissiness. On the life of my wife and family this is all true. I was a trusted lead and future member of management. I had to leave because the hipocricy made me ill every day. The management at this facility does notlive a organic lifestyle, it supports thier needs........they dont care, and its sad. I was so excited and what to be working for a company that shared my beliefs, I was fooled, then sadly disappointed. There were many more situations that happened till it got to the point where I could not remain hopeful for change. I felt almost guilty, so I had to leave. I should have posted comments before but was scared they would know who this was and indicate untrue information to future possible employers. Im sorry I was such a coward.
